Katie Deits is an award-winning artist, Master Photographer, and writer whose multifaceted career spans visual arts, art criticism, and organizational leadership. Her diverse expertise includes public relations, marketing, fundraising, and arts administration, making her a dynamic presence in the art world.
Deits is celebrated for her photography, figurative sculptures, drawings, and paintings, and her work has been exhibited widely. In 2007, she was honored with the prestigious South Florida Cultural Consortium Art Fellowship for Palm Beach County. As a member of the International Association of Art Critics, she also contributes regularly to newspapers and magazines, writing about art and culture with an insider's perspective.
A graduate of the University of South Florida, Deits holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts. She has also achieved the Florida Degree of Photographic Excellence and is recognized as a Master of Photography and a Certified Professional Photographer by the Professional Photographers of America.
From 2016 to 2023, Deits served as the Chief Executive Officer of Florida CraftArt, a statewide nonprofit organization headquartered in St. Petersburg, Florida, dedicated to promoting Florida's fine craft artists. In 2023, she was awarded the Muse Award as Arts Ambassador for her outstanding contributions to the arts community. Following this honor, she transitioned to a new role at Florida CraftArt as the Director of Grants and Special Projects.
Previously, from 2009 to 2015, Deits was the Executive Director of the Lighthouse ArtCenter Museum & School of Art in Tequesta, Florida. Her earlier career includes seven years as an editor at The Palm Beach Post and ownership of the largest photographic and graphic design studio in Palm Beach County, where she specialized in commercial, advertising, aerial, and editorial photography.
An experienced educator, Deits has served on the faculties of Barry University, Palm Beach State College, and The Society of the Four Arts in Palm Beach, Florida.
